Lehava (flame) Project (in
preparation for studies at the Hebrew University)
A special project for outstanding high school students from low
socio-economic background, who are allowed to earn credit for courses taken at
university. During the first year, they take a preparatory course, given
voluntarily by Faculty teachers and students, and after that they can attend
regular university courses, which can be recognized as part of future studies
towards an academic degree.

Nutritional education for the Ethiopian
community
Teachers and
students from the School of Nutritional Sciences participate in a community
outreach program for the residents of the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood. Emphasis
is put on eating a well balanced diet, consuming fruits and vegetables, and
making healthy food choices from available Israeli foods to augment the
traditional Ethiopian menu.

A special project in which students adopt and tutor
school- children from low socio-economic backgrounds and help them with their
social and academic skills.

Friday at the University
The Faculty opens its doors to all
Rehovot residents, and offers a variety of different courses, which encourage
the population to broaden their general education. More than 300 people attend
these courses, which are held on Fridays.

Coffee in Academia
Once a month the Faculty offers an evening
lecture on a cultural and/or popular science topic. This evening is open to the
general public.

Youth Science Center
The center organizes youth science clubs for
school children in Grades 3 to 12, with special emphasis on topics
researched and taught at the Faculty, e.g. Zoology, Ecology and
Environment, Computers, Microbiology and Veterinary Sciences. The classes
are given by graduate students and external teachers. Internet site:
