Local Activites
The Division for External Studies offers various non-degree and continuing education courses
in Hebrew to acquaint Israeli scientists, farmers and teachers with new techniques. This
year, for example, it organized five enrichment courses for dietitians,
extension officers and agronomists. Students also audit regular classes to upgrade their
knowledge in subjects that interest them.
The Division for External Studies also offers English language programs,
including several
M.Sc. programs and
short post-graduate international courses.

"Friday at the University", conducted by the Division, offers a range of enrichment
courses in a variety of subjects for the community at large. This program alone averages over
400 participants a year.
During the summer, English courses (250 students) are held so that students may fulfill
compulsory language requirements. In addition, preparatory courses in chemistry, physics and
mathematics are given for another 200 students. For new immigrant students the
division offers Hebrew courses (50 students). Retraining courses are offered for new
immigrant physicians, scientists and computer programmers.
Regular studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
and the
Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment
are conducted in the Hebrew language.
Every semester some courses at the
Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment
will be given in English,
and be open to external students.
