Cellulose

An organic compound consisting of thousands of repeated, linked units of glucose. It is a major structural component of green plants, is very abundant in most natural fibers as well as in paper and wood. Cellulose is very hardy but is digested in the guts of termites by microorganisms that live within their digestive systems.
