Cyclorrhapha

The name of theis suborder in the order Diptera is no longer in use, having been incorporated within the suborder Nematocera. Their larvae are called maggots and they pupate within a puparium; the antennae of the adults have 3 segments. The Cyclorrhapha contain several families some of whose members (like flies and mosquitoes) attack or are parasitic on vertebrates. Species of other families, namely the Agromyzidae, Anthomyiidae, Chloropidae, Drosophilidae and the Tephritidae, contain plant pests.
