Fipronil:

A broad-spectrum insecticide that disrupts the insect central nervous system. It was applied to control poultry mites in poultry houses and has entered the food chain, being now illegal in the production of food for human consumption in Europe. It is moderately toxic to humans if ingested in large quantities, and may affect the kidneys, liver and thyroid glands.
