Neonicotinoid

A group of new pesticides that mimic the action of nicotine, functioning as nerve poisons. They are systemic, act rapidly and for a long time and control pests at low concentrations. They are especially active against sucking insects, like aphids, bugs, scale insects and thrips. Compounds in wide usage include acetamiprid and imidacloprid.
