A family in the Aphidoidea of about 75 species, whose members feed on deciduous trees. All are oviparous and usually lack an ovipositor. They undergo complicated life cycles, with several polymorphic forms, on their host plants. Pests included in this family are the grape phylloxera, Daktulosphaira vitifoliae, a world-wide major pest of grapes, and the pear phylloxera, Aphanostigma piri.
