Pyrethroids

Insecticides that act on the arthropod nervous system and paralyse flying insects (“knockdown effect”). They are more potent at low temperatures (thus “negative temperature dependent”), toxic to most predatory Acari. However, they usually have little effect on phytophagous mites, whose outbreaks the pyrethroids may thus encourage.
