Quarantine

The facility and the period of isolation, during which imported plants or insects are kept segregated to ascertain that they are free from contaminating organisms. These might be pests (including disease and weeds), or in biological control projects, undesireable associates. Quarantine is imposed by law and its regulations are formulated and enforced in order to limit the spread of potential pests.
