Scarabaeidae
A large family with about 30,000 described species of beetles (Coleoptera) commonly called chafers or June beetles. The dark adults are compact, their forelegs modified for digging and the periphery of the body is densely pubescent. The whitish larvae are C-shaped and live in the soil, feeding on dung or plant roots. Species in the genera Scarabaeus and Copris include the dung beetles. Middle Eastern pests include Epicometis hirta, Maladera insanabilis, Oryctes agamemnon, Oryctes elegans, Phyllognathus excavatum and Phyllopertha nazarena.
